Job Title: Data Scientist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our interdisciplinary team at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. As a Data Scientist, you will play a key role in developing natural language processing and machine learning tools to leverage electronic health record data and support clinical care and research in the neurosciences.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and develop formalisms, algorithms, and software for applications in biomedical research.
  • Develop and maintain software tools and infrastructure for resolving specific problems.
  • Perform the development, testing, and revision of programs in a team with diverse bioinformatics expertise.
  • Work requires knowledge of statistical and scientific research design.
  • Work requires ability to analyze/evaluate data and make appropriate decisions/recommendations.
  • Work requires ability to communicate technical information to clinicians and biomedical researchers.

Requirements:

  • S. in Computer Science, Informatics, Bioinformatics, (Bio)mathematics, (Bio)statistics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field OR S. with demonstrated experience in broadly defined areas of informatics or bioinformatics.
  • Two (2) - four (4) years post-graduation experience in data analysis, natural language processing, and/or scientific software development.
