Job Summary

Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the Surgical Technician/Labor and Delivery position is responsible for assisting the surgical team in the operating room and related areas. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain the operating room environment, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available and ready for use.
  • Assist the surgical team with patient preparation, positioning, and transportation to and from the operating room.
  • Maintain a clean and safe operating room environment, adhering to strict aseptic technique and infection control protocols.
  • Assist with the handling and preparation of surgical instruments, sutures, and other medical supplies.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures for the department, as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a surgical technician training program or equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
  • Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists is highly desirable.
  • One to two years of experience as a surgical technician is preferred.
