The Diagnostic Imaging Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures, adhering to radiation protection principles, local, state, and federal standards. This role requires excellent technical skills, attention to detail, and strong communication abilities.

Job Description

As a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist, you will be responsible for:

  • Properly identifying patients and exams, performing diagnostic imaging services with the utmost care and evaluating technical quality.
  • SUCCESSFULLY PROVIDING TECHNICAL CONTINUITY OF CARE AND EDUCATING PATIENTS ON RADIOLOGICAL PROCEDURES.
  • Demonstrating competence in RIS/HIS modules relevant to job responsibilities.
  • Assisting in gathering and recording data for Radiology Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement programs.
  • Taking ownership of assigned areas, ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are readily available.
  • Accurately following downtime procedures for seamless patient care.
  • Maintaining professional development through active participation in inservices and continuing education programs.
  • Providing educational information to patients regarding their examinations.
  • Annual peer review of films meeting department standards.
  • Familiarity with patient conditions, history, and pertinent background information for proposed examinations.
  • Accountable for digital image quality sent to PACS, verifying correct patient selection, accurate medical record information, and timely transmission.
  • Responsible for achieving hospital-designated Press Ganey mean scores, striving for excellence in patient satisfaction.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

This role demands frequent use of fingers and hands to operate equipment, pull x-ray folders, and chart information. Standing or walking up to 8 hours per shift in 30-minute increments is also required. Patients may need to be pulled, pushed, or lifted up to 300 pounds with assistance. Listing and moving objects up to 30 pounds is common. Frequent stooping, crouching, and bending are expected. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation and seeing as it relates to normal vision are essential for this position.

Educational Requirements

A graduate from an ARRT-recognized education program or registered/registry-eligible ARRT member. Registry passage within one year of hire date is mandatory.

Training and Experience

Experience as a radiologic technologist is preferred, along with ongoing training in department procedures. Rotating through all areas of diagnostic radiology is necessary. Current CPR certification is required. Proficiency in computer usage is also needed.
