Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Anesthesia Technician II to join our team at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC). As a key member of our anesthesia department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and procedural areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and service anesthesia equipment, including gas machines, to ensure proper function and safety.
  • Transport equipment to and from the operating room, procedural areas, and other locations within the hospital as needed.
  • Assemble and set up equipment used by physicians, nurses, and surgical technicians, including anesthesia machines, automated dispensing carts, and other specialized equipment.
  • Assist anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists in preparing special anesthesia equipment, such as spinal trays and epidural trays.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and perform minor repairs and maintenance, contacting Biomedical Engineering as needed.
  • Stock supplies in anesthesia machines, operating rooms, and procedural areas, ensuring easy access and retrieval.
  • Keep storage areas clean, neat, and organized to facilitate efficient storage and retrieval of supplies.
  • Interact with Central Sterile Processing, Distribution, Receiving, Pharmacy, and Department Buyer to place and follow up on purchase orders.
  • Clean and maintain the general appearance and cleanliness of all equipment used in patient care.
  • Assist anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists with intraoperative procedures, positioning, arterial lines, intubations, and IV access as needed.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of an Anesthesia Course or Certification, or at least 1-2 years of experience in the anesthesia field.
  • Ability to read and write, understand and follow written and oral instructions, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Basic knowledge of the metric system, pharmaceutical dosage forms, and drug nomenclature.
  • Ability to enter data via various computer applications in a timely manner and safely handle medications.

Pay Range

$24.97 per hour

The final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, and alignment with our organizational needs.
