Custodian Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at Davenport Community Schools. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our school facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean all entryways and ensure they are free from debris and dust
  • Take care of laundry and maintain the cleanliness of the laundry room
  • Police all restrooms during the day and ensure they are stocked with necessary supplies
  • Clean the weight room and vacuum stairs east and west of the locker rooms
  • Clean the café floor and wet mop/auto scrub it daily
  • Assist with deep cleaning during break periods, including stripping, scrubbing, and recoating surfaces
  • Remove snow and perform minor grounds keeping tasks
  • Remove graffiti from walls and lockers
  • Properly maintain equipment and report any maintenance issues to the Head and Lead Custodian

Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 56 pounds
  • Ability to climb up to an 8-foot ladder and perform custodial tasks
  • Ability to climb steps and work on uneven ground
  • Ability to understand and follow oral instructions

Education and Experience: A high school degree or GED is required. Previous experience in custodial work is preferred.
