Position Summary

The Shop Assistant will provide essential support to the shop supervisors and contribute to the maintenance and management of company equipment. This role involves various administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations within the shop, while also assisting the Shop Manager and Mechanics in their daily responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process mechanic requests through the purchasing system or by contacting local suppliers.
  • Receive and document incoming orders accurately.
  • Monitor upcoming preventive maintenance schedules and update work order statuses.
  • Prepare necessary components for scheduled maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in creating and refining preventive maintenance plans.
  • Manage inventory of essential supplies and equipment.
  • Coordinate with vendors to resolve any delivery issues.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop area.
  • Support the production department with uniform and supply orders.
  • Act as a liaison for human resources inquiries from production staff.
  • Assist in scheduling repairs to optimize resource use and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and company policies.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Familiarity with construction operations is essential.
Work Environment

The Shop Assistant will work in a dynamic environment that may involve exposure to various physical demands and safety considerations. Adherence to safety regulations and the use of personal protective equipment is mandatory.
