Job Summary

The University of Oklahoma is seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Pharmacist to join our team. As a key member of our Nuclear Pharmacy, you will be responsible for the daily operation of the facility, ensuring the safe handling of radioactive materials, and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Radiation Safety: Act as the day-to-day radiation safety officer, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Lead Employee: Supervise and train assigned personnel in the safe handling of radioactive materials, and instruct interns and medical personnel on nuclear pharmacy matters.
• Information Distribution: Provide information to physicians and staff on new pharmaceuticals, radiopharmaceuticals, and supplies, and verbally explain directions for prescription use to nuclear medicine technologists and patients.
• Radiopharmaceutical Distribution: Dispense radiopharmaceuticals pursuant to prescriptions, fill and dispense prescriptions from bulk stock, and coordinate distribution to hospitals and clinics while complying with regulations.
• Transcription: Receive and transcribe radiopharmaceutical orders, determine prescription appropriateness, and select or formulate radiopharmaceuticals as needed.
• Assays: Measure, weigh, and compound radiopharmaceuticals through processes such as filtering, heating, titrating, or distilling to prepare radiopharmaceuticals according to standard formulas.
• Radiopharmaceutical Procurement: Receive and procure radiopharmaceuticals, maintain inventory, and follow procedures for opening and receiving radiopharmaceuticals.
• Quality Assurance: Assist in the performance of quality assurance on radiopharmaceuticals, instruments, and equipment, and perform area surveys, area wipe tests, and bioassays.
• Record Maintenance: Maintain records of prescriptions filled and all records pertaining to OSBP, DOT, NRC, OSHA, and FDA.
• Emergency Call: Participate in emergency calls after normal business hours on a rotating schedule.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD
• 24 months experience in a nuclear pharmacy
• Licensed Pharmacist by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy or obtain licensure within 90 days of hire
• Oklahoma Preceptor's license by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy within one year of hire
• Preferred: Board Certification in Nuclear Pharmacy (BCNP)
