Job Summary

This is a full-time Assistant Nurse Manager position located in Nursing Service at the WRJ location. The Residential Recovery Center (RRC) provides Veterans with treatment of Substance Use Disorders and Co-Occurring Disorders at the VA Medical Center in White River Junction, Vermont.

Responsibilities
  • Supports the Nurse Manager (NM) with supervisory duties and responsibility and accountability for the 24/7 operation of their designated units and provides coverage for the other ANMs as needed.
  • Oversees the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance.
  • Engages in professional organizations and facility-wide shared governance to enhance leadership and career growth.
  • Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, Directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Leads and organizes delivery of care to ensure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice.
  • Observes and evaluates the quality of nursing care provided including interdisciplinary patient rounds, reviewing nursing documentation in clinical records, and collecting, reviewing, and analyzing data related to the delivery of patient care.
  • Mentors staff, and counsels staff who require improvement with performance or conduct.
  • Initiates/participates in quality improvement activities that result in improved outcomes.
  • In the absence of the Nurse Manager, handles administrative and clinical issues, such as staffing coverage, granting leave, and resident and/or staff Issues.
  • Provides direct patient care to an assigned group of patients as needed.
Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm with 24/7 accountability
