At Samaritan Health Services, we are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will be responsible for providing safe, effective, and quality medical laboratory services to patients of all ages. You will perform complex laboratory analyses, confirm and verify results, and correlate and interpret data to aid in diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

Our laboratory teams are responsible for testing samples, including blood, body fluids, and tissue, to aid in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. We are a 24/7 operation, processing tests for hospital inpatients and emergency room patients, as well as outpatient and clinic specimens. Our labs are licensed by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and accredited by the College of American Pathologists.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as a working knowledge of laboratory medicine and technology, including clinical chemistry, hematology, immunology, microbiology, and molecular biology. You will also need to have a basic knowledge of quality assurance and quality control techniques and activities, as well as the ability to monitor performance and apply knowledge of established performance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex laboratory analyses and confirm and verify results
  • Correlate and interpret data to aid in diagnosis and treatment of diseases

  • Monitor performance and apply knowledge of established performance standards

Requirements:

  • Active certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of laboratory medicine and technology, including clinical chemistry, hematology, immunology, microbiology, and molecular biology
  • Basic knowledge of quality assurance and quality control techniques and activities
  • Ability to monitor performance and apply knowledge of established performance standards

Physical Demands:

  • Rarely (< 10% of the time)
  • Occasionally (10-33% of the time)
  • Frequently (34-66% of the time)
  • Continually (> 66% of the time)

Work Environment:

  • Lab setting with exposure to chemicals and biological agents
  • May require standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in laboratory medicine and technology

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of laboratory medicine and technology
  • Basic knowledge of quality assurance and quality control techniques and activities
