Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Project Engineer to join our team at Summit Engineering and Construction. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the project from commencement to close out, ensuring that projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

As a Construction Project Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the project team in the execution of work, including programming, schematic design, detailed development, and construction phases;
  • Collaborating with design professionals, clients, subcontractors, and field personnel to address complex construction coordination issues;
  • Identifying and addressing potential issues in advance, utilizing technical problem-solving skills to avoid execution impacts to the project;
  • Assisting the Project Manager and Project Superintendent in driving project safety performance, aligning with the site-specific safety plan;
  • Rigorously supporting onsite quality control efforts, from preconstruction document review to QA/QC testing, to ensure a quality product is handed over to clients;
  • Reviewing project scope and drawings, developing an understanding that allows for identifying issues and concerns for design resolution;
  • Participating in design & constructability review process, providing feedback to improve project outcomes;
  • Supporting the bid process, preparing bid packages, and developing specific scopes of work;
  • Supporting subcontract processes, preparing subcontract/purchase orders, and tracking all changes as issues and pending change orders;
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in an applicable discipline and a minimum of 0-5 years of experience in construction as a Project Engineer (PE) or Internship;
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills, demonstrating aptitude and confidence in taking action decisively;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with project stakeholders and field teams;
  • Task and time management skills, with flexibility to work well in a fast-paced environment, handling simultaneously occurring tasks, and achieving operational objectives within set deadlines;
  • The ability to analyze and disseminate incomplete data and ambiguity, providing solutions, and possessing judgment to escalate issues with a strong sense of urgency and initiative.
