GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the guidance of the Medical Director, the Physician will deliver comprehensive primary care services to patients. This role is committed to upholding the highest standards of medical practice while ensuring adherence to all regulatory and professional guidelines.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Deliver medical services to patients within the boundaries of licensure and in alignment with community care standards.
  2. Assess patient needs to determine necessary referrals and urgency levels.
  3. Maintain accurate documentation of all services in the electronic health record system.
  4. Engage in quarterly peer review processes.
  5. Implement and follow medical protocols, policies, and procedures in accordance with AAAHC standards.
  6. Contribute to Quality Improvement initiatives and patient care programs.
  7. Assist in addressing patient complaints, requests, and inquiries.
  8. Supervise mid-level healthcare providers, including Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners.
  9. Foster professional relationships with staff and patients at all levels.
  10. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and funding requirements, including OSHA and CLIA.
  11. Flexibility in scheduling may be required based on organizational needs.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience: A minimum of two years in community-based medical practice and healthcare delivery systems. MD or DO degree with a valid California license and board eligibility certification, to be obtained within one year of employment in Family Practice or Internal Medicine. Current CPR and DEA registration are mandatory. Sensitivity to Native American culture and values is essential. Comprehensive knowledge of modern medical principles related to public health services and the operational structure of public health organizations is required. Familiarity with state and federal public health laws and managed care systems is beneficial.

License: A valid California driver's license is required upon appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. Applicants must be insurable under the organization's vehicle insurance policy.

Certifications: Relevant certifications and licenses must be valid and maintained according to the required education and profession.

Character: Candidates must demonstrate a reputation for integrity and trustworthiness. They should exhibit responsibility, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively and courteously with others. Confidentiality and teamwork are paramount.

Skills: Strong leadership, supervisory, and organizational skills are essential. The ability to build effective peer relationships within the Medical Department and with the public is crucial. Candidates must communicate ideas clearly and concisely, exercise balanced judgment, and work collaboratively to achieve departmental goals.

Physical and Personal Requirements: The role requires a normal clinic/office environment with the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, perform physical tasks, and travel as necessary.

Compliance: Each employee is integral to fostering a compliance culture. Employees are expected to understand and adhere to all organizational policies and procedures. Participation in compliance training is mandatory.

INDIAN PREFERENCE: Preference may be given to qualified Native American Indians in accordance with the Indian Preference Hiring Act, provided applicants meet the necessary criteria.
