Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Administers physical therapy interventions to residents based on assessments and treatment strategies devised by the licensed Physical Therapist.
  • Utilizes sound judgment to deliver effective and efficient care in all responsibilities.
  • Monitors, documents, and communicates to the therapist any changes in conditions, reactions, and responses related to assigned tasks.
  • Identifies the need for reassessment and reports any changes in status that may necessitate further evaluation or referral.
  • Keeps accurate daily records of treatments and updates progress notes on residents as instructed by the therapist.
  • Immediately halts any treatment that appears detrimental to the resident and informs the licensed physical therapist and relevant staff.
  • Ensures that care provided is reviewed appropriately by the licensed Physical Therapist in accordance with practice regulations.

Team Collaboration:

  • Adheres to the standards outlined in FutureCare's Corporate Ethics Statement and Compliance Plan.
  • Supports the Physical Therapist in consultations with family members, physicians, and other healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Assists in the maintenance of therapy equipment and the rehabilitation department.
  • Contributes to in-service training programs and other meetings as required by the Physical Therapist.
  • Engages in continuous improvement by identifying areas for enhancement and supporting the implementation of new strategies.
  • Participates in departmental and facility-wide team meetings.
  • Complies with facility, regulatory, and professional standards and guidelines.
  • Follows facility policies and procedures and contributes to quality improvement and safety initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • 1. Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program. 2. Current licensure or eligibility for licensure under Maryland statutes. 3. Experience or training in long-term or sub-acute care settings is preferred. 4. Active membership in the state and national American Physical Therapy Association is a plus. 5. Ability to comprehend and follow the directions of the Physical Therapist and adhere to facility policies and procedures.
