Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Technician to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a Mental Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing patient care and support in a treatment or educational milieu.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care and support in a safe and secure environment
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living and provide education and training specific to individual patient needs
  • Chart observations and other required documentation on assigned patients
  • Participate in the development, coordination, and implementation of patient treatment programs
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to lead milieu activities and provide support to patients
Requirements
  • High School or GED Equivalent
  • Training in Mental Health Technology
  • 1/2 year (6 months) directly related experience
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer certification
Working Conditions

This position requires heavy work, exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical risk/injuries due to combative patients and chemical, bio-hazardous materials require personal protective equipment.

This position is located in the Behavioral and Mental Health department at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals.
