Job Summary

We're seeking a skilled Weekend Registered Nurse to join our team in Adult Acute Care (UPMC Presbyterian/10S). This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse patient population and be part of a dynamic team that's dedicated to making a positive impact on our community.



About the Position

This 30-bed acuity adaptable medical unit cares for stepdown and telemetry patients, including those from various specialties such as orthopedics, ENT, hepatology, urology, and abdominal transplant. As a Weekend Registered Nurse on 10 South, you'll work collaboratively with your colleagues to provide high-quality care and support our patients' needs throughout their hospital stay.


Our team-driven unit offers a great fit for graduate nurses and experienced professionals looking to expand their clinical knowledge and skills. With a rotating schedule, you'll have the opportunity to work various shifts, including weekends, to ensure 24/7 coverage on the floor.



Responsibilities

As a Weekend Registered Nurse, you'll be responsible for:



  • Developing and implementing individualized plans of care for patients, taking into account their unique needs and preferences.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care.
  • Providing education and support to patients and their families, promoting informed decision-making and empowering them to take an active role in their healthcare.
  • Maintaining accurate and comprehensive records, ensuring timely documentation and updating of patient information.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for growth and contributing to evidence-based practice changes that enhance patient outcomes.


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:



  • A minimum of six months experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or equivalent.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement.
  • CPR certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to lift and position patients, as well as use specialized equipment and technology.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building trust and rapport with patients, families, and colleagues.
