The Assessments & Control Standards team plays a critical role in ensuring that Global Banking & Markets (GBM) is well-equipped to adapt to the swiftly changing regulatory landscape. This team is responsible for formulating and executing strategies that guide Goldman Sachs through the ongoing regulatory transformations within the financial markets. We pinpoint areas of significant risk and opportunity for the firm and its clientele, developing strategies and processes to address these challenges. The position involves close collaboration with Divisional Leadership, Sales, Trading, and other key stakeholders, including Government Affairs, Compliance, Legal, Operations, and Engineering.

Our team is currently leading a short-term initiative (1-2 years) aimed at enhancing GBM's traceability and alignment between regulations, policies, and relevant business controls. This endeavor requires a comprehensive understanding of the regulations, as well as their practical application to GBM's operations, processes, technology, and personnel. Candidates with experience in any aspect of this work within financial institutions will be well-prepared for this role. In the medium to long term, we anticipate the ongoing application of the expertise developed within our broader team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Global Banking & Markets to establish a leading framework for sustainable regulatory implementation.
  • Engage with stakeholders to creatively address challenges and implement enduring strategic solutions.
  • Assist the business in navigating an evolving regulatory landscape, establishing robust and sustainable processes to meet compliance requirements.
  • Drive strategy for GBM regulatory change initiatives, leveraging a strong understanding of Goldman Sachs's business practices, regulatory context, and cross-asset market structure themes.
  • Develop a solid understanding of the themes addressed by the Regulatory Management & Entity Solutions team, with a particular emphasis on European and US regulatory matters.
  • Conduct data analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Support the team in developing an internal regulatory control and governance framework for GBM.

  • Proven experience in tracing regulations to business activities and controls.

The expected base salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. Additionally, eligible employees may receive discretionary bonuses based on performance.
