This is an open and continuous announcement for an Ophthalmologist (Staff Physician) Part-time position at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive ophthalmic care to adult and pediatric patients, including diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive ophthalmic history, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of eye disorders
- Conduct diagnostic procedures, including static and perimetric visual field tests, A and B mode ultrasound examinations, electrophysiologic tests, and ocular coherence tomography
- Administer and interpret fluorescein angiograms, optical rehabilitation, spectacle prescribing, contact lenses fitting and prescribing, and treatment of amblyopia
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must have a degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution
- Must have a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
- Must have completed residency training in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
- Must be proficient in written and spoken English
The selected candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, providing care to a diverse patient population. The position requires the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. The candidate must be able to lift up to 15 pounds, stand for up to 1 hour, and walk for up to 1 hour.
