Position OverviewOur client, Recruit Island, is seeking a dedicated Small Animal Veterinary Practitioner to contribute to their pharmaceutical operations on a permanent basis.
Role Responsibilities
As a Veterinary Practitioner, you will report directly to the Facility Manager and work within a rigorous regulatory framework (GLP/GCP). Your primary responsibilities will include:
1. Conducting veterinary assessments of animals and administering care and treatment, including routine surgical procedures.
2. Offering technical and scientific guidance to the animal care team and ensuring the humane treatment of animals.
3. Implementing health monitoring protocols and analyzing results related to food, bedding, and water quality.
4. Upholding the animal welfare policies established by the organization.
5. Participating in the education and training of staff regarding animal welfare and humane practices.
6. Engaging in the development and refinement of innovative methods (surgical techniques, sampling procedures, new dosing strategies, etc.).
Additionally, you will be involved in specific experimental phases related to efficacy, pharmacokinetics, bioequivalence, and safety assessment studies, including neurological evaluations and full necropsy procedures as necessary.
Ethics and Compliance
You will actively participate in the Ethics Committee and the Animal Welfare Body, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Pharmacy Management
Oversee the management of the veterinary pharmacy in accordance with legal requirements and maintain regulatory documentation to ensure welfare accreditation.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess a veterinary degree recognized in Ireland and be registered with the Veterinary Council of Ireland. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, along with strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, is essential.
A valid driver's license is required for this position.
Contractual Terms
This role is offered under a collective agreement for the pharmaceutical industry, with a competitive salary range of €40,000 to €70,000. The company covers 60% of health insurance costs.
Additional Information
Occasional on-call duties may be required during evenings and weekends, though this will be infrequent.
