About the Job

Tact Staff is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team for a travel assignment in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Job Summary: As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures. Your expertise will be essential in preparing and maintaining medical equipment, instruments, and supplies, as well as assisting with patient care under the direction of an RN or physician.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify supplies, equipment, and instruments are readily available for procedures.
  • Prepare the operating suite/sterile field for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Participate in timeout processes prior to every surgical case.
  • Perform room turnover, including case breakdown, room cleaning, and room setup.
  • Anticipate patient and surgeon needs, demonstrating critical thinking skills and ability to prioritize activities.
  • Prepare and maintain knowledge of equipment, instrumentation, and supplies used for surgical procedures.
  • Inspect equipment and instruments for defects or breakage, and ensure proper disposal and maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively with the OR team to ensure accuracy of preference cards.
  • Act professionally and respectfully to all members of the surgical team.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited school of surgical technology or equivalent clinical surgery training and experience.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Colorado DORA registration.
  • 2 years of ophthalmic surgery experience preferred.

Working Conditions:

The Surgical Technologist will work in a fast-paced healthcare environment, exposed to various medical equipment, instruments, and supplies. Protective clothing and equipment may be necessary.
