Job Overview

SHL Medical is a leading provider of advanced drug delivery systems, with a global presence and a commitment to innovation. As a Maintenance Technician for Injection Molding Machines, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities.

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance on Engel Injection Molding Machines, including replacing thermocouples, heater bands, and screw assemblies.
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts to move equipment and materials.
  • Tooling and Equipment Maintenance: Use milling machines, lathes, drill presses, sanders, grinders, and polishers to maintain and repair equipment.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the Production Planner and Molding Supervisor to schedule preventative maintenance activities and ensure effective communication.
  • Training and Development: Support the growth and development of the molding team by training technicians in areas of expertise and learning new systems.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate time and maintenance records in SAP.
  • Leadership and Quality: Lead the review and author of SOPs and other documents, and collaborate with the Predictive & Equipment Maintenance Manager to develop and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Teamwork and Problem-Solving: Collaborate with the Predictive & Equipment Maintenance Manager to participate in world-class Total Productive Maintenance teams, and pull and set molds in small to medium-sized injection molding presses using hi-lo and overhead cranes.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Possess knowledge of local, state, and federal applicable regulations, including GDP (ALCOA) cGMP, 11CFR, ISO8, and ISO9.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support IMM Commissioning and Qualification activities, and develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the efficient operation of the IMM equipment and machinery in the facility.
  • Investigations and Troubleshooting: Assist on the execution of all URS, DS, and FS of the IMM equipment, and support investigations related to IMM to help determine deviation root causes, recommended immediate mitigation, long-term preventative strategies, and CAPAs.
  • Quality and Safety: Enforce safe operating practices and establish a safe environment for the IMM and customers by abiding by all procedures and policies as established by the company.
  • Organizational Skills: Organize and execute all work order requests assigned promptly, and understand and be familiar with general maintenance workflow processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Interface with the Facilities, Engineering and Capital Project Management, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, EH&S, and Manufacturing Operation teams.
  • Continuous Improvement: Create and implement measures to minimize breakdowns and repairs, and record and track daily progress/error reports using KPI.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee IMM & facility equipment repairs & spare parts, and develop and manage maintenance schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective maintenance activities.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or Associate of Applied Science Degree, apprenticeship graduate, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in maintaining control systems and electrical/electronic repair, and at least 10 years of experience in a maintenance tech role with plastic injection molding, preferably in a medical device manufacturing facility, Biopharma, or medical manufacturing facility.
  • Skills: Proven track record of developing and implementing effective maintenance programs and managing maintenance staff, excellent troubleshooting, analyzing, and solving problems with various electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic controls and systems, strong knowledge of maintenance best practices, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
