Speech-Language Pathologist Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team at Sanford School District. The successful candidate will provide essential speech and language services to students, supporting their academic and social development through effective communication interventions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to diagnose speech, language, and communication disorders.
  • Design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs.
  • Deliver direct speech and language therapy to students in individual or group settings.
  • Collaborate with educators, parents, and school staff to facilitate student progress.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of student evaluations, progress, and therapy sessions.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, offering expert insights and recommendations.
  • Conduct screenings and provide consultations as necessary.
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in speech-language pathology to ensure the use of best practices.
  • Educate and support teachers and school staff on speech and language development issues.
Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Active Maine state license in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Valid certification from the Maine Department of Education for Speech-Language Pathologists.
  • Comprehensive understanding of IDEA and state and federal special education regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Prior experience in a school environment is preferred but not mandatory.
