Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and safety-conscious individual to join our team as a Bus Driver in Training. As a key member of our transportation team, you will be responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation services to our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend all assigned training sessions, safety meetings, and in-service meetings.
  • Participate in classroom preparation for written exams and behind-the-wheel training.
  • Perform pre-trip inspections and maintain the bus in a safe operating condition.
  • Develop and maintain order and discipline among students on the bus, adhering to District policies and procedures.
  • Assist in fueling, cleaning, and maintaining the bus, including picking up debris, sweeping, and mopping the floor.
  • Utilize two-way radio communication for bus-to-bus and bus-to-base communication.
  • Perform first aid according to established guidelines and procedures.
  • Ride along with experienced bus drivers to learn routes and practical application of student management techniques.
Requirements
  • Clear and valid Texas Driver's License required.
  • Clear and valid Texas CDL Class B driver's license with (P) passenger and (S) school bus endorsement or ability to obtain license within 90 days after employment.
  • Insurable by the District's insurance carrier required.
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent travel to school district buildings, vehicle service stations, field trip locations, and other destinations. The incumbent must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service.

The successful candidate will be required to pass an annual physical and complete a 20-hour course while in training, as well as a recurring 8-hour course to maintain the CDL license.
