Job Title: Miller Blender Operator

Hourly Rate: $27.37

Shift Differential: $0.55

Shift Hours: M-F 3:00pm to 11:30pm

Job Summary: Operate mills, blenders, and process materials in a safe, efficient, and effective manner consistent with company quality standards.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

1. Process materials to meet daily production schedule in the most efficient manner.
2. Check materials and mill room operations continuously for adherence to quality standards, including machine operations, specified components, correct product, lot numbers, bulk index, visual appearance, and granulations.
3. Check materials and blending room operations continuously for adherence to quality standards, including machine operations, specified components, correct product, lot numbers, bulk index, and visual appearance.
4. Check materials and pre-batch operations continuously for adherence to quality standards, including specified components, correct product, lot numbers, bulk index, and visual appearance.
5. Take product samples at appropriate times for bulk index and granulation testing.
6. Provide product samples to Technical Services.
7. Follow correct aseptic sampling procedures for Technical Services.
8. Perform necessary production and inventory transactions to accurately reflect material movement, inventory status, and lot management.

Job Safety and Sanitation Standards:

1. Perform job safety standards for PPE, LOTO, and forklift safety.
2. Perform job sanitation standards, including sanitation breaks and chemical application.

Job Quality Standards:

1. Perform job quality standards, including allergen management, lot management, bulk index, and granulation testing.
2. Participate in continuous improvement.
3. Operate material-handling equipment safely and efficiently, to minimize risk to personnel and damage to inventory and equipment.
4. Perform routine battery changes on forklifts.
5. Assist in the training of new Processing Department personnel.
6. Perform routine sanitation breaks on Processing equipment: tear down and reassembly.
7. Perform accurate, timely record-keeping functions, including downtime and production recording.
8. Communicate effectively (verbally and written) with all personnel to maintain efficient operations.
9. Follow established procedures and provide input for continuous improvement.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

1. Must have intermediate mechanical aptitude.
2. Must be able to understand and establish an in-depth knowledge of the equipment for troubleshooting requirements.
3. Must be able to complete the tear down and reassembly of complex mechanical processes.
4. Must have intermediate math skills and be able to implement them under different scenarios.
5. Must be able to understand batch building and palletizing of ingredients.
6. Must possess or qualify for a forklift license that includes walkie reach lift, reach lift - stand up, pallet jack, stand up lift, and battery changer.

Training and Qualifications:

1. Must be able to learn AS400, PKMS, ATOMIC, and software systems.
2. Must be able to understand basic Microsoft Windows/Word.
3. Must demonstrate the ability to maintain manual logs and handwritten documentation.
4. Must qualify in all areas of the processing department (milling, blending, pre-batch, and material handling).
5. Must be able to read and understand the process text.
6. Must qualify on the following machines: clipper cleaner, pallet dispenser, gravity/air deck, Forsberg destoner, aspirator, bucket elevators, pneumatic conveyors, cyclone separators, rotary valves, pepper bag opener, blenders, hanging scales, postal scales, platform scales, chain hoist, vibratory feeders, rotary magnets, sliding magnets, dump grate magnets, hydraulic lifts, belt convers, pepper bag extruder, salt transfer system/oil transfer system, acoustic level sensor, proximity level sensor, pre-cooling conveyor, Sweco sifter, Kek sifters, Co-Mills, Great Western Box sifter Pepper mill, Great Western Box sifter Mill 02, degreasing foamers, sanitizer sprayers, pressure washer, nitrogen dispensing system, PLCs, hot water system, safety gates, and roll-up doors.
7. Must be able to accurately demonstrate ability to sample test any product being processed.
8. Must be able to accurately demonstrate ability to take aseptic samples for quality testing.

Maintenance:

1. Responsible for identifying and reporting equipment needing maintenance attention through inspection: day-to-day operation, changeovers, or sanitation breaks.
2. Responsible for replacing boots or socks when worn or damaged.
3. Responsible for replacing sifter screens when worn or damaged.

SQF:

1. Has a critical role in assuring food safety and quality within the manufacturing environment by upholding food safety and regulatory policies and responsibilities.
2. Responsible for following cGMP's.
3. Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and good housekeeping.
4. Ensure all food safety and quality records are completed accurately and timely.
5. Follow all appropriate equipment cleaning procedures.
6. Ensure pallets are clean and in good repair.
