Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional Assistant to join our educational team in Dallas, Texas. The successful candidate will assist teachers in the classroom, provide support to students, and contribute to a positive and effective learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Assist teachers with classroom management and instructional tasks, ensuring a smooth and productive learning environment.
  • Student Support: Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their academic goals.
  • IEP Implementation: Help implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, ensuring that their unique requirements are met.
  • Instructional Materials: Prepare and organize instructional materials and resources, supporting teachers in their lesson planning and delivery.
  • Supervision: Supervise students during non-classroom times, including in the cafeteria, on the playground, and during field trips, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Personal Care: Support students with daily activities, including personal care if needed, promoting their independence and self-confidence.
  • Progress Monitoring: Monitor and record student progress and behavior, providing valuable insights to teachers and other staff members.
  • Classroom Environment: Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment, promoting a positive and respectful attitude among students and staff.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other staff to support student learning and well-being, ensuring a cohesive and effective approach to education.
  • Professional Development: Participate in professional development and training sessions, enhancing your skills and knowledge to support student success.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum 1+ years paraprofessional or special education experience required.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively as part of a team, patience, flexibility, and a passion for helping students succeed.
  • Certifications: Must pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting as required by Texas state law, completion of any required state and local certifications for paraprofessionals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous Experience: Previous experience as a paraprofessional or teacher's aide.
  • Training or Coursework: Training or coursework in education or a related field.
  • Bilingual Skills: Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting and Moving: Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Standing and Walking: Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Stooping and Kneeling: Capability to stoop, kneel, and crouch to assist students.

Work Environment:

  • Classroom Setting: This position will be primarily based in a classroom setting, with some duties performed outside the classroom during supervision times and field trips.
