Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Description

Adventist Health is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team in Montebello, California.

Job Summary:

Administer radiopharmaceuticals or radiation intravenously to detect or treat diseases, using radioisotope equipment. Administer medical substances for imaging or other procedures. Perform screening procedures for diagnostic interpretation. Coordinate patient flow and maintain procedure quality control.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, administer, and measure radioactive isotopes in therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies using various radioisotope equipment.
  • Prepare stock solutions of radioactive materials and calculate doses to be administered by radiologists.
  • Subject patients to radiation.
  • Execute blood volume, red cell survival, and fat absorption studies following standard laboratory techniques.
  • Administer intravenous injections in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform screening procedures for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Document all pertinent information regarding radioactive materials and surveys in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Obtain pertinent patient information and disseminate subsequent patient preparation instructions to patient care areas.
  • Elevate questions, problems, and significant challenges to more senior staff for direction or subject matter expertise.
Requirements:
  • Diploma/certificate from an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine.
  • State Nuclear Medicine License (required in CA and HI).
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine or Certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • Venipuncture certification (required in CA and HI).
  • State Nuclear Med Tech (SNMT) certification.
