Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide nursing care to residents according to physicians' orders and in conformance with recognized nursing techniques and procedures.
  • Direct, instruct, teach, coach, correct, and discipline RAs and Medical Unit Secretaries as needed to develop an effective team and ensure the quality of work performed.
  • Verify the identity of residents receiving medications, mix or assemble drugs, administer drugs to residents, observe ingestion, and record in the MAR.
  • Maintain up-to-date medical records of care given, documenting reasons for prescribed drugs not administered.
  • Perform tasks as assigned, including but not limited to:
    • Dressing wounds, giving enemas, and douches
    • Applying hot and cold compresses as needed
    • Operating EKG, suctioning equipment, and O2 equipment
    • Obtaining specimens for laboratory
    • Performing venipuncture
  • Perform duties and/or tasks assigned on an as-needed basis by the Director of Nursing or another authorized supervisor.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from a recognized LPN or RN course of study approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • License to practice nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
  • Valid and active North Carolina Driver's license.
Working Conditions:

The LPN/RN Nursing Care Provider must be able to lift 30 lbs. without mechanical assistance, push residents weighing up to 200 lbs. in a wheelchair, turn, bend, stoop, and stretch to assist patients/residents, and stand and walk for long periods of time.

The individual must also successfully complete the WorkSTEPS Functional Testing program to determine their ability to safely perform essential job functions.
