We are seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team at Northern Biomedical Research. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional animal care and support to our veterinarians and researchers.
Key Responsibilities- Assist veterinarians with animal wellness examinations and provide medical care to animals in our laboratory setting.
- Collect and process clinical diagnostic samples, and record clinical observations and data in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Proactively engage with veterinarians regarding care plans for animals, and assist with treatments of animals under veterinary care.
- Perform initial triage of veterinary patients when an attending veterinarian is not available.
- Conduct treatments of animals under veterinary care, including calculation of drug doses and administration of drugs via all routes.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A High School/GED or equivalent, with LVT or AS/BS in veterinary technology, or 3 years' experience in veterinary or laboratory animal science.
- Preferred qualifications include ALAT/LAT/LATG certification and experience with electronic medical records systems.
- Ability to work beyond typical work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and extended shifts with short notice.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs, carry up to 40lbs for up to 50 feet, push/pull up to 75lbs force, and ascend ladders without restriction.
