Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Bakery Associate Team Leader to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a key member of our bakery team, you will be responsible for assisting the Team Leader in all aspects of daily operations, including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects. You will also lead and develop Team Members, ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain creative store layouts and product merchandising to drive sales and customer engagement.
  • Work with the Team Leader to achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets, analyzing sales reports and labor data to inform decision-making.
  • Assist the Team Leader in maintaining advanced product knowledge and staying up-to-date on new products, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain good vendor relationships, develop new vendor connections, and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed for vendor processing.
  • Work with the Team Leader to resolve team concerns and issues, fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.
  • Function as the point person and departmental leader in the absence of the Team Leader, ensuring seamless store operations.
  • Set and achieve the highest standards of retail execution, driving sales growth and customer satisfaction.
  • Foster a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale, promoting a culture of excellence.
  • Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs, directing Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers, responding promptly to customer needs and questions.
  • Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel Team Members to sustain a high-performance team and minimize turnover.
  • Provide timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations, consistently communicating and modeling WFM vision and goals.

  • Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications.
Experience
  • 18+ months retail Team Member experience and 6+ months of supervisory experience.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours.
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to temperatures: 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
  • May require use of ladders.
