Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to provide high-quality nursing care to inmates/detainees in a correctional facility setting. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will work closely with our Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff to ensure the delivery of comprehensive medical care, while maintaining a safe and secure workplace.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide nursing care within your scope of practice and refer complex medical issues to the appropriate physician.
  • Conduct thorough physical assessments and medical histories, and evaluate patients' symptoms, reactions, and progress.
  • Administer medications securely, taking precautions against drug hoarding and trafficking.
  • Ensure prescribed medications are administered as instructed, and provide patient education on chronic illnesses, post-hospitalization, and post-surgical procedures.
  • Supervise the workflow of LPN staff, provide input into performance evaluations, and maintain confidential medical records.
  • Follow industry and company accreditation policies, and adhere to all relevant regulations and standards.
Requirements:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of nursing, with a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state where the facility is located.
  • Two (2) years of direct work experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a correctional facility or similar environment.
  • Excellent diagnostic skills, patience, and natural empathy, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Competence in crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, medical nursing care, and psychiatric nursing care.
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequently: Lift or carry and push/pull up to 40 lbs., walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, and reach above shoulder level.
  • Occasionally: Lift or carry and push/pull up to 60 lbs., work with machinery, and climb.
