We are seeking a highly skilled Tank Cleaner 3 to join our team at Continental Maritime of San Diego. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of our fuel tanks and bilges.
Key Responsibilities- Clean interior of storage tanks (fuel tanks), bilges, and piping systems using high-pressure hoses, acids, and hand tools.
- Drain tanks to flush residue such as oil, fuel, and sludge through tank openings.
- Remove residue from the bottom of tanks using pumps.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
- Working knowledge of fuel tanks, machinery, ship bilges, and piping systems.
- Tank cleaning techniques and ship configuration.
- Hand tool operation and basic mechanical and plumbing skills.
- Shipyard Competent Person (SYCP) certification.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to work any shift.
- US Citizenship.
- DBIDS credential.
- Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions.
- May be exposed to fumes and irritants, including welding/burning fumes, paints, oils, greases, and various cleaning solutions and solvents.
- Noise, high heat, and humidity hazards while wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Frequently moves throughout the shipyard.
- Works at heights and in confined spaces.
- Must be able to ascend/descend stairs/ladders/ramps, aboard ships in shipyards under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
- Must be able to move heavy equipment and boxes, weighing up to 50 pounds.
