The Lead Specimen Processor/Receiver plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of laboratory specimen processing at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare.
Key Responsibilities- Receiving, processing, labeling, and distributing specimens in a timely and accurate manner.
- Working closely with the supervisor to evaluate staffing needs and train employees.
- Providing oversight of day-to-day operations and contributing to the development of laboratory policies and procedures.
- Maintaining a thorough understanding of laboratory specimens and HIS/LIS computer systems.
- Strong understanding of laboratory specimen processing and handling.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
The Lead Specimen Processor/Receiver will work in a laboratory setting, with regular exposure to laboratory equipment and specimens. The position requires the ability to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends.
