We offer engaging apprenticeships led by professionals in arts, communications, leadership, sports, and STEM fields. Our youth development model has earned us the City Livability Award from the U.S. Conference of Mayors, making us a respected leader in this field. Programs take place at community locations throughout the city, including three ASM buildings.

Program Overview

This part-time instructor role seeks a dedicated individual to lead a group of 10-12 high school teens with disabilities, aged 14-21. The instructor will co-facilitate art-based projects, ensuring a supportive environment where all participants can thrive. This unique opportunity combines art creation with life skills development, fostering friendships and social awareness among participants.

Main Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver hands-on art activities tailored to the needs of teens with disabilities, promoting inclusivity and collaboration.
  • Create a safe and welcoming atmosphere where all participants feel valued and encouraged to express themselves through art.
  • Prepare and supervise weekly lessons focused on social awareness, communication, and teamwork.
  • Plan and implement enriching field trips and guest visits to enhance instruction and training.
  • Provide supervision during program events and outings.
Requirements
  • Patient and creative problem-solving skills to adapt activities to meet teen needs.
  • Cultural competence and excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience working with teens with disabilities and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is $45,000-$60,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. After School Matters offers a competitive compensation package and opportunities for professional growth and development.
