- Perform qualitative and quantitative tests using various lab instruments and/or manual methods on blood, plasma, urine, CSF, stool, and/or body fluids
- Comply with all established standards and practices pertaining to test performance, including laboratory procedures, hospital procedures, CAP guidelines, and JCAHO guidelines
- Perform quality control procedures as needed and established by protocol, analyzing quality control data and taking appropriate action to ensure accuracy and precision
- Identify abnormal patient results, recognize factors that affect measurements/results, and take appropriate action, seeking assistance as needed
- Perform and document equipment maintenance, calibration, quality control, and other trouble-shooting procedures
- Recognize equipment malfunctions, document problems as required, perform trouble-shooting and repair in accordance with established guidelines, and alert supervisor/manager/designee as needed
- Communicate results to physicians or other authorized healthcare providers as required and/or appropriate, ensuring proper documentation of calls
- ASCP certification (or equivalent)
- Associate Degree in Science (minimum)
- Previous lab experience preferred but will accept new graduates
