As MongoDB expands its product offerings within the Atlas Data Platform, we are seeking a Technical Services Engineer with expertise in application search and related technologies to provide specialized support for our Atlas Search and Vector Search products.

Role Overview

In the role of Technical Services Engineer, you will guide clients on effective strategies and best practices for utilizing our data platform. This involves translating intricate technical concepts into accessible language for our customers, aiding them in understanding, installing, and utilizing applications efficiently. You will also diagnose application issues and advocate for user needs, working closely with MongoDB's product management and development teams. As a subject matter expert in search technologies, you will advise field teams on Atlas Search and Vector Search challenges and facilitate technical enablement in these areas.

Your analytical skills and commitment to customer service will be essential in ensuring MongoDB users achieve success with our suite of application-layer products. We are looking for individuals eager to explore the intricacies of how large-scale data systems are constructed and managed across various organizations.
Ideal Qualifications

We welcome candidates who are self-motivated, inquisitive, and versatile. The ideal candidate should possess:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years of expertise in search technologies (e.g., Elasticsearch, Lucene, Solr)
  • 5+ years of experience managing RDBMS such as Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, with a preference for MongoDB experience
  • Experience in database performance tuning and benchmarking
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, with a proven track record in resolving technical issues in production settings
  • Solid understanding of Linux, Networking, and Diagnostics
  • Experience with scalable and highly available distributed systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to assist others
  • Ability to think critically, maintain composure under pressure, and solve problems in real-time
  • A B.Tech / B.S. or equivalent experience; candidates without a Computer Science degree but with relevant skills are encouraged to apply
Additional Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with Algolia, Lucidworks, Pinecone, Milvus, or similar technologies
  • Experience in database programming and data modeling
  • Advanced knowledge of Operating System and Networking fundamentals
  • Certifications in MongoDB, RHCE, or Cloud Providers
  • Previous experience in SaaS support roles
  • Experience in developing Generative AI applications and familiarity with LLMs and Vector Stores
Responsibilities
  • Support and guide strategic customers, focusing on daily issue resolution and proactive progress
  • Collaborate with your team and customers to identify, characterize, and resolve issues raised to the Technical Support team
  • Address technical challenges through thorough research, reproduction, and troubleshooting, utilizing both standard and proprietary tools
  • Develop best practices for technical troubleshooting across various technologies and create Knowledge Articles for our self-service support portal
  • Review and test new features prior to public release, including creating internal and customer-facing resources such as knowledge base articles
  • Proactively identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Advocate for customer needs and gather feedback to engage engineering, product, sales, and marketing teams for product enhancement
  • Act as a technical subject-matter expert for assigned customers and their application deployments in Atlas
  • Mentor junior engineers on the team in new or emerging product areas and cross-train peers in specialized topics
