Job Description

Momentum is currently seeking an Early Head Start (EHS) Home Based Educator to join our team in Torrance.

About the Role

You will work closely with the EHS program to provide high-quality family-centered services, implementing a curriculum that includes developmentally appropriate activities and weekly home, community, and child care visits.

EHS Home Based Educator Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Implementation: Knows, understands, and implements curriculum through planning developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Family Support: Implements a curriculum and provides family support through weekly home, community, and child care visits.
  • Lesson Planning: Prepares lesson plans.
  • Assessments: Provides on-going assessments of infants/toddlers using appropriate assessment tools.
  • Socialization Events: Organizes and facilitates socialization events and family trainings.
  • Communication: Communicates and provides parents/guardians with feedback, education, and support.
  • Progress Evaluations: Prepare written evaluations of each child's progress.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Complies with state and local regulations regarding the care of children.
  • Data Collection: Participate in data collection, record keeping, and reporting.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; required.
  • Early Childhood Experience: Minimum of 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education (ECE); required. Two (2) years experience working with children ages birth to 36 months; required.
  • Driving Requirements: Valid and current proof of legal right to drive in California; required.
  • Special Needs Experience: Experience working with children with special needs, preferred.
  • Program Experience: Experience in Early Head Start or Head Start programs; preferred.
  • Language Skills: Bi-lingual in English/Spanish; strongly preferred.
  • Certifications: Must have first aid and CPR certification.
  • Background Check: Successfully pass all post offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, physical exam, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to run, push, pull, bend, squat, kneel, and lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
