The Registered Clinical Nutrition Specialist is responsible for managing the nutritional care of patients, residents, and outpatients. This role involves conducting comprehensive nutritional evaluations and overseeing the implementation of physician-prescribed therapeutic diets and nutritional supplements.

The Nutrition Care Manager tailors individual and group dietary interventions based on thorough assessments of patients, their families, and significant others, while respecting the cultural, ethnic, and personal preferences of each individual.

The nutrition care strategy is continuously monitored and adjusted as needed through a collaborative interdisciplinary approach.

Key Responsibilities:
Exhibits the expertise and skills necessary to deliver care suitable for the age group of the patients served.

Conducts nutrition assessments and follow-ups for patients identified with heightened nutritional risks, adhering to established policies and best practice standards.

Accurately documents patient assessments, nutritional objectives, care plans, and any changes in status within the Electronic Health Record.

Executes the nutrition care process by performing assessments, establishing nutrition diagnoses, implementing interventions, and ensuring effective monitoring and evaluation of nutritional status.

Creates and executes personalized nutrition intervention plans aligned with the medical goals and objectives of each patient.

Advises on the necessity for transitional feeding methods (from enteral to oral intake and vice versa) and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to determine the most suitable administration of nutritional therapies and food.

Provides education to patients and/or their family members regarding nutritional requirements as necessary.
Acts as a resource for medical staff and allied health professionals concerning nutritional status and needs.

Complies with established policies and procedures, including confidentiality and patient rights as outlined in the facility's operational guidelines.

Works in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal care through a patient-centered approach.

Meets the annual requirements for Clinical Dietitian I within the designated timeframe as specified in the Registered Dietitian Clinical Ladder Portfolio Checklist.

Performs additional duties as assigned.
Collaborates with Culinary Staff to ensure accuracy in modified diets and address any patient concerns.
Engages in the Rogers Operating Systems (ROS) program and adheres to Standard Workflow.
Demonstrates understanding and compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory agency guidelines.
Participates in weekend/on-call and holiday rotation as required.

Additional Information:

Education and Training Requirements:
A Master's degree in Dietetics or a Bachelor's degree if licensed prior to 2024. A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a clinical environment.

Completion of an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited supervised practice program (Dietetic internship) is mandatory. Successful completion of the Registration Examination for Dietitians is required.

Maintain registration through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Must obtain and maintain state certification (up to 90 days post-hire allowed for certification). Familiarity with Joint Commission and other regulatory compliance standards is essential.

Formal training in crisis prevention and intervention is required within sixty (60) days of hire, with annual recertification.

Dietitians working in community-based Residential Facilities (CBRF), Residential Care Centers (RCC), or as pool staff must complete CBRF first aid, fire safety, and standard precautions training within ninety (90) days of hire.

American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification is required within thirty (30) days of hire, with annual re-certification necessary.
