Job Responsibilities:
As a Senior Process Engineer, you will be responsible for researching, developing, documenting, qualifying, and implementing production processes to support the manufacture of high-reliability assemblies for various markets.
Your role will include actively participating in the design of complex assemblies and establishing stable manufacturing processes during the prototype and development phases, ensuring that documented procedures are effectively transitioned to production.
You will also review, develop, and update statistical process control methods and related documentation, adhering to established policies.
Key Duties:
- Mentor and coach junior Process Engineers and technicians.
- Lead process technology transfers from the Process Engineering department to Manufacturing.
- Provide operator training and validate competency.
- Develop robust production processes utilizing Design of Experiments (DOEs).
- Estimate manufacturing costs and recommend tooling and process requirements for new and existing products.
- Establish validation and verification criteria for new processes and products.
- Create and revise documentation detailing production processes.
- Troubleshoot assembly area issues, focusing on root cause and corrective action (RCCA) processes.
- Stay updated on best practices and technologies to enhance capabilities.
- Collaborate with the Design Engineering team regarding process capabilities and materials.
- Identify and prioritize opportunities for process improvements.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist with operations as needed to maintain workflow and meet quality requirements.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to all safety procedures.
- Participate in meetings and work groups to integrate cross-functional activities and resolve issues.
- Comply with all quality and ITAR policies and procedures.
- Contribute to a positive team spirit and communicate effectively with all levels of employees.
- Protect confidential information and maintain integrity at all times.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or 10-15 years of relevant experience.
- Extensive manufacturing experience with knowledge of MIL, IPC, and J-STD standards related to electronic assemblies.
- Proficiency in CAD and SolidWorks software.
- Familiarity with 5S, SPC, and lean manufacturing practices.
Skills:
- Knowledge of parallel seam welding processes for hermetic device manufacturing.
- Understanding of environmental screening requirements for micro-electronic assemblies.
- Experience with wire bonding and die attach of hybrid products.
- Ability to generate and modify technical documents efficiently.
- Design tools and fixtures with minimal guidance.
- Experience in SMT process development for both leaded and lead-free assemblies.
- Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented with a collaborative approach.
