Cedars-Sinai is a leading healthcare provider in Los Angeles, committed to delivering high-quality care and innovative research. We are seeking a highly skilled Research Associate II to join our team in the Heart Institute.

Job Summary

This role will involve working under direct supervision to perform routine and complex laboratory tasks and procedures. You will develop technical expertise in areas relevant to research projects, participate in research activities, and assist in the design of new protocols and techniques. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biological Sciences, or a related field, and 2 years of laboratory experience, including cGMP manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting routine manufacturing of biologic products, including media preparation, cell culture, cell counting, formulation, centrifugation, and freezing
  • Completing required documentation and guiding other operators on proper cGMP recording of entries and comments on batch records, forms, and protocols
  • Performing a variety of increasingly complex experimental protocols and procedures and assisting in the design of new complex or unusual protocols and techniques
  • Keeping accurate and detailed records of experiments and results, and assisting in identifying and troubleshooting unexpected results
  • Preparing technical summaries, protocols, and reports
  • Ordering laboratory supplies and supporting laboratory operations
  • Maintaining lab equipment and related records, and coordinating use of lab equipment
  • Assisting in the operation of specialized equipment, as required by the area of research
  • Assisting in preparation of data for publication and/or presentation at scholarly meetings
  • Observing and complying with safety standards and procedures

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biological Sciences, or a related field
  • Two (2) years of laboratory experience, including cGMP manufacturing environment
  • 1-3 years of experience in cGMP/cGTP manufacturing environment in an academic/industry setting
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements (cGMP/cGTP) in the biopharmaceutical, blood, and/or tissue banking industry
  • Familiarity with routine laboratory procedures, experimental protocols, and overall lab organization
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple clerical trials, and attention to detail
