We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Social Sciences Librarian to join our team at InsideHigherEd. The successful candidate will serve as a liaison to multiple academic departments in the social sciences, developing relationships with faculty and students to promote library resources and services.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Maintain Relationships: Establish and sustain positive working relationships with administrators, faculty, and students in academic departments, schools, and colleges.
- Provide Research Assistance: Offer research assistance to primary constituencies on the use of the library and related resources, both in-person and remotely.
- Teach Instructional Sessions: Teach instructional sessions within credit courses in assigned departments and/or work with individual students and small groups outside of credit courses as requested.
- Develop and Maintain Subject Guides: Develop and maintain subject and course guides, as well as online tutorials, for the library website and university websites.
- Compile and Submit Reports: Compile and submit activity reports and statistics for liaison activities, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Participate in Committees and Associations: Participate in library and university committees and task forces related to primary job assignment, as well as serve and participate in professional and scholarly associations.
- Master's Degree: Master's degree in any subject area.
- 12 Months of Related Experience: 12 months of related academic experience.
- Skills: Demonstrated creative and innovative problem-solving skills, flexibility, and a strong commitment to service excellence. Ability to take initiative, be self-directed, and demonstrate a commitment to innovation and creativity. Strong organizational, project, and time management skills to lead or coordinate multiple projects, working with minimal supervision.
- Masters of Library & Information Studies: Masters of Library & Information Studies from an ALA-accredited program.
- Graduate-Level Coursework: Graduate-level coursework or degree in a related field.
- Understanding of Academic Libraries: Understanding of the academic library's role in research, teaching, and learning, as well as current and emerging trends/issues related to scholarly communication, open access, open educational resources, information and data literacy, research data management, impact metrics, and digital scholarship.
