Position Overview
The College of Nursing is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time faculty role of Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing. The ideal candidate will possess robust clinical expertise and a comprehensive understanding of the primary specialty, along with the capability to educate across various curricular areas. Key responsibilities encompass the administration of instructional methodologies in both theoretical and practical applications of the nursing curriculum, alongside providing guidance, support, and mentorship to students both in and out of the classroom. Active engagement in departmental committees is also expected. The successful candidate will exhibit a strong dedication to teaching excellence. This general job description is applicable across all specialty domains, including adult health, community/population health, nursing administration, and education.
Key Responsibilities:
This is a clinical track position that collaborates with faculty to coordinate the execution of respective academic programs:
- Exhibits mastery of content in a specialized area.
- Designs classroom and clinical learning experiences that enhance student learning.
- Employs innovative and contemporary teaching strategies that foster excellence in both classroom and online education.
- Coordinates orientation and instructional delivery across the curriculum for students' theoretical and/or clinical education.
- Plans, implements, and assesses assigned course offerings, including clinical and practice courses.
- Contributes to the development, monitoring, and reporting of curriculum content for the education of baccalaureate, master's (advanced practice nurse), and doctoral students in alignment with national standards and accreditation bodies.
- Acts as an academic advisor and mentor for students and faculty, as well as communities of interest.
- Participates as a member of the College of Nursing Faculty Organization.
- Engages in and demonstrates leadership within College of Nursing and university committees and task forces.
- Submits an annual faculty performance portfolio that reflects teaching effectiveness, scholarship/research, and service contributions.
- Defines a clear program of scholarship.
- Leads and participates in scholarly activities that advance nursing knowledge and science.
- Demonstrates leadership in fostering collaboration with nursing colleagues and other disciplines.
- Disseminates scholarly work through professional publications and presentations at local or state meetings.
- Actively participates in local, state, national, and international nursing and professional organizations.
- Master's degree in nursing from an accredited institution, with a specialization in a relevant area.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to engaging with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- Current unencumbered licensure or eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse.
- Appropriate national certification in the specialty area, if applicable.
- PhD or equivalent doctoral degree preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in nursing education and practice.
- Experience in classroom and/or clinical nursing education.
- Proven track record in nursing scholarship.
- Experience in delivering didactic educational content across the curriculum.
