Job Summary

Lancaster General Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team. As a Clinical Nurse 1 New to Practice/Apprentice, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and working closely with our interprofessional healthcare team to ensure seamless coordination of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to patients of all ages, from infancy to the elderly, and demonstrate a commitment to delivering exceptional patient outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans that address the physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, safety, and age-appropriate needs of assigned patients.
  • Participate in process improvement activities to enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices, and contribute to the development of new methods and procedures to improve patient care.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and colleagues, and demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and communication.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices and technologies, and apply this knowledge to improve patient outcomes and enhance the quality of care.
Requirements
  • RN licensure issued by the PA Board of Nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher level nursing degree.
  • New hires who start their employment with a temporary practice permit must sit for their NCLEX within 60 days of starting in their RN role.
  • A graduate registered nurse may only practice professional nursing under supervision and if the graduate registered nurse holds a current temporary practice permit.
  • CPR Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support.
  • A health care provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs.

  • As outlined in unit-based Plan for Provision of Care.

  • New Learning and Memory: The ability to learn new tasks quickly and effectively.
  • Problem Solving, Reasoning and Creative Thinking: The ability to think critically and apply principles of reasoning and problem solving to resolve practical problems.
Physical Requirements
  • Body Position/Movement: The ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, push, pull, kneel/squat, reach, twist, and balance.
  • Lifting: The ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Sensory Abilities: The ability to see, hear, and touch/feel.
Working Conditions
  • Position involves exposure to biohazardous waste, blood-borne pathogens, and radioactive agents.
