Job Description

I. Overview

The Senior Financial Accountant will manage the daily financial operations for Dotdash Meredith's corporate accounting division. This role is crucial in ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded, including but not limited to income, expenditures, accruals, prepaid expenses, deferred revenue, eliminations, and comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations. The Senior Financial Accountant will also provide support for various functions within the corporate accounting team, playing a key role in meeting the company's financial reporting deadlines.

II. Key Responsibilities

Accountabilities and Expected Outcomes
  • Leading the accounting team to ensure timely recording of all financial entries as per corporate deadlines.
  • Reviewing and entering all necessary journal entries in both Projects and General Ledger.
  • Overseeing and validating all balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Analyzing quarterly reports for Accounts Receivable, Deferred Revenue, and Inventory.
  • Identifying potential risks within existing accounting processes.
  • Approving invoices processed through the designated systems.
  • Ensuring accurate elimination of all related party balances.
  • Collaborating with internal and external auditors to fulfill requests and complete necessary controls.
  • Assisting with monthly financial forecasting as needed.
  • Providing insights for quarterly Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) flux analysis.
  • Carrying out additional tasks and projects as assigned.
III. Qualifications and Requirements

Education:

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.

Experience:

A minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, with the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with all organizational levels.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Robust analytical skills, with the ability to gather, organize, interpret, and present financial data accurately and succinctly.
  • Excellent organizational capabilities, adept at managing multiple projects and prioritizing under tight deadlines.
  • Fundamental understanding of accounting principles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Curiosity to gain a comprehensive understanding of business transaction flows and systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with the broader Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Oracle Financial, Hyperion, and MicroStrategy systems is advantageous but not mandatory.
Work Arrangement: This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for remote work up to two days per week.
