Job Purpose/Summary:
Plains

has an immediate opening for an

Electrical and Instrumentation Technician

at the

PGS Gardendale Stabilizer Facility

. This role involves executing both scheduled and unscheduled electrical and instrumentation maintenance and repairs on plant and pipeline equipment. Additionally, it entails maintaining current maintenance records in accordance with DOT/PHMSA/PSM standards.

The position requires a solid understanding of electrical, instrumentation, and SCADA systems and may involve call-outs for tasks related to Plains field operations and/or emergency response.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct inspections, calibrations, repairs, installations, and modifications of process controls, control valves, safety devices, analyzers, PLCs, field instrumentation (pressure, level, and flow), process monitoring equipment, meters, and low and high voltage motors and breakers, as well as VFDs, control circuits, radio communications, SCADA, and distributed control systems using various testing equipment.

2. Ensure the maintenance of 480 Vac plant equipment.

3. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of PSM (Process Safety Management) and company policies/procedures related to facility operations and maintenance.

4. Complete and maintain necessary documentation and records for all performed work.

5. Oversee test equipment calibration and associated records.

6. Collaborate with external vendors to troubleshoot diverse equipment issues.

7. Manage breaker and switchgear operations as needed.

8. Maintain facility documentation (P&ID, loop sheets, spec sheets, etc.) for approved modifications.

9. Communicate effectively and safely with field operations, fellow employees, contractors, and the public.

10. Adhere to all environmental, health, and safety best practices, policies, and procedures, including process safety management (PSM).

11. Be available for call-outs, travel, and overtime related to Plains field operations and/or emergency response.

12. Assist with pipeline pigging activities.

13. Execute energy isolation lockout/tagout procedures (LOTO).

14. Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.


Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Technical degree with 2 years of relevant field experience or 4+ years of E&I experience in a plant setting.
3. Ability to read and interpret manuals, policies, engineering standards, regulations, drawings, and schematics, including electrical, pneumatic, and P&IDs to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
4. General knowledge of plant and pipeline operations with experience in medium voltage equipment.
5. Self-motivated with a positive attitude.
6. Demonstrated ownership of work and commitment to the facility's overall success.
7. Strong teamwork and work ethic with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
8. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Software.
9. Familiarity with Maximo or other CMMS programs.
10. Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays, and respond to call-outs.
11. Compliance with all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines.
12. Capability to learn the Stabilizer process to serve as a relief operator as needed.
13. Experience in overseeing contractors and managing projects from inception to completion.

14. Ability to complete Haz-Mat training, safety programs, and meet minimum DOT qualifications, as well as obtain any other Operator Qualifications as required by the Supervisor.

15. Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals both inside and outside the company.

16. Qualified or able to qualify for operating a manlift and forklift.
17. Proficient in English, with the ability to perform basic math.
18. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license for operating company vehicles.
19. Occasionally lift or carry moderately heavy equipment or parts during maintenance tasks.

20. May be required to work from heights, in confined spaces, and engage in physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, bending, and walking across various terrains.

21. Frequently work in an open environment with extreme temperatures, often near high voltage and/or chemicals, necessitating safety measures such as protective clothing and equipment.


Qualifications:
1. Valid driver's license with a clean record.
2. Clear criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks.
3. Fluent in spoken and written English.
4. Compliance with the Company's drug and alcohol policy, including pre-employment D&A Testing.
