Operations Supervisor

The Yard Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations at their assigned location, ensuring efficient, safe, and customer-focused yard operations while supervising personnel and resources. This position requires compliance with safety and regulatory requirements and optimizing performance to meet operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:- Organize and oversee the schedules and work of direct reports
- Direct assigned tasks and provide assistance as needed
- Recruit and interview prospective employees and choose the best applicant based on skills, knowledge, and abilities required for the job
- Provide orientation and training for new employees
- Communicate expectations, coach for improvement, and handle discipline and termination of employees as needed according to policy
- Responsible for the oversight of all daily operations at their assigned yard
- Maintain and monitor clean and organized yard areas ensuring safety and efficiency with sufficient parking and layout, proper lighting, and resolve issues as they arise
- Complete yard checks of empty, loaded, and sanitized trailers scheduling for cleaning and coordinate with other locations as needed
- Coordinate with the maintenance department and or external service vendors for repairs of equipment, vehicles, and facilities to ensure safe and reliable operations
- Develop and manage budgets, monitor expenses, and ensure fiscal responsibility in line with organizational goals
- Works closely with local leadership at all locations to resolve issues
- Maintains strong customer relationships with dairies, vendors, and plants
- Perform driver/loader evaluations at dairy farms
- Develop action plans, audit operations, and propose efficiency improvements
- Responsible for taking calls after hours and weekends to ensure continued customer service at all hours
- At applicable locations, supervise CIP personnel, scheduling, safety protocol, and maintenance of CIP/pump over equipment, assist with washing trailers
- At applicable locations, operate a CMV as needed to load, shuttle, or otherwise ensure business needs are met
- Responsible for the collection of drug and alcohol screening tests and maintaining certification per regulations
- Travel within designated region
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver's license in state of residency with acceptable driving record
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and submit to the company random drug and alcohol program
- Proficient in basic computer skills, Microsoft Office suite and Google Workspace
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of internal and external staff
- Manage multiple tasks independently to meet deadlines
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tank endorsement from state of residence
- One (1) year or more of verifiable experience with equipment type of smoothbore tank trailer
- Three (3) years or more of leadership or operations experience
- Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations

The physical demands include mobility to work in an outdoor setting and in an office setting and use standard office equipment including a computer; operate a motor vehicle and to visit various locations; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone.
This is mostly a general laborer classification, standing in outdoor work areas and walking between terminals, maintenance shops, and Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) operating areas for long periods must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include clear and accurate vision, with or without corrective lenses, for tasks such as reading gauges, inspecting equipment, and identifying potential contaminants.
Hearing abilities adequate to respond to auditory signals, alarms, and communicate with team members.
Ability to speak with internal customers to determine the nature of the problem or to explain the work performed.
Ability to discuss work with other technicians or supervisors. Ability to make self understood as well as be able to understand what others are saying.
Proficient driving skills, including the ability to maneuver and operate the terminal tractor safely in tight spaces and have the ability to lift and carry materials, tools, or equipment associated with coupling and decoupling trailers.
