Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and caring School Age Site Assistant to join our team at the YMCA of Delaware. As a School Age Site Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and success of our youth and teens. Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and care for children in a group setting, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.
  • Develop and implement daily activities that promote healthy development and learning.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and other stakeholders to ensure a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Maintain a safe and clean facility, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Document progress and development of children, providing regular updates to parents and staff.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in early childhood education or related field preferred.
  • At least 18 years of age and four years older than any child in direct care.
  • Successful completion of a physical and tuberculosis screening, as well as a criminal history and child abuse background check.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience working with youth in a group setting, preferably in an early childhood education or school-age care environment.
  • Knowledge of child development theory and practice, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
  • Ability to develop and present educational programs and workshops, with a focus on promoting healthy development and learning.
  • Flexibility and willingness to accommodate the needs of the early childhood community and staff team.
