Job Title: School Nurse

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate School Nurse to join our team at Alief Independent School District.

Job Summary

The School Nurse will provide healthcare services to students, develop and implement individualized healthcare plans, and collaborate with teachers and parents to ensure students receive the best possible care.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for students with disabilities and health conditions
  • Administer medication to students according to board policy and district procedures
  • Conduct health assessments, screenings, and acuity assessments for students
  • Maintain and evaluate cumulative health data, including IEP-related documents
  • Coordinate and submit documentation for local, state, and federal compliance reporting
  • Provide First Aid/CPR/AED as needed
  • Assist in formation of health policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for the school district
  • Provide chronic disease management and education, including ventilator care, gastrostomy feedings, tracheostomy care, catheterizations, etc.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree from an accredited professional nursing education program
  • Valid registered nurse license from the State of Texas Board of Nursing
  • Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience in community health, ambulatory care, school health, or other related fields
Working Conditions

The School Nurse will work in a fast-paced educational setting, interacting with students, teachers, and parents. The position requires frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. The School Nurse may be exposed to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases.

This is a 190-day position with a salary range of $62,995/BA, $63,495/MA, $63,995/PHD (based on previous experience).
