Position Overview

The Trauma Recovery Specialist is responsible for delivering direct support to individuals affected by sexual violence and other traumatic incidents. This role encompasses both individual and group therapy, as well as the development of programs aimed at educating the community about the impacts of trauma.

This position typically operates during standard business hours, with occasional evening commitments as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing individual therapy to victims of trauma, including children, adolescents, and adults, along with their families.
  • Engage in the planning, creation, and facilitation of various support groups and activities tailored for different age groups.
  • Conduct training sessions focused on the complexities of victimization for volunteers, staff, and other professionals in the community.
  • Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with community resources and represent the organization at relevant meetings and events.
  • Keep accurate records, statistics, and documentation for all direct services provided.
  • Adhere to the ethical standards set forth by relevant professional organizations based on educational background.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in counseling, psychology, or social work is required.
  • Preferred experience includes knowledge of sexual assault dynamics and effective intervention strategies.
  • A minimum of two years of post-graduate experience working with trauma survivors is essential.
  • Understanding the needs of victims of sexual violence and other forms of trauma is crucial.
  • Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish) are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Completion of required training within a specified timeframe is necessary.
  • All candidates must pass relevant background checks.
