Silgan Plastics is seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer - Extrusion Blow Molding to support the organization's technical innovation and creative packaging solutions. As a key resource, you will work closely with operations, engineering, and commercial teams to launch new products and drive continuous improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities- Apply plastics processing knowledge to evaluate new business opportunities and ensure safe, quality, and in-spec equipment for new business opportunities.
- Perform blow machine factory acceptance tests (FATs) and determine success criteria based on bottle specifications and operational performance requirements.
- Work with Product Development Engineers to support unit or full set process development for molds and evaluate mold vendors for competitive bid processes.
- Train Silgan Plastics operations and engineering team members on shuttle machine safety, operation, set-up, and troubleshooting.
- Travel to operation facilities to assist with setup and support of new and continuous improvement process development and production startup.
- Work with EBM equipment vendors to ensure proper training materials, maintenance, and operations manuals are easy to understand.
- Able to work safely in an environment with industrial equipment and provide support on safety improvements to machine design, operation, and layout.
- Assist with machine changeovers and troubleshooting as required to support manufacturing operations.
- Able to use test equipment for basic bottle measurements and verify that the correct materials are being used and are properly prepared.
This role requires a strong understanding of plastics processing and a ability to work safely in an environment with industrial equipment. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
