Job Title: Data Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team at Torch Technologies. As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines to ensure the efficient and reliable flow of data from various sources to our data storage and processing systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and develop scalable data solutions.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize ETL processes to ensure timely and accurate data movement from source systems to data warehouses and other storage solutions.
  • Design and implement data models, schemas, and structures to facilitate efficient querying and analysis.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity by implementing data validation, cleansing, and transformation processes.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, errors, and inconsistencies.
  • Explore and implement new technologies, tools, and best practices in data engineering to enhance data processing efficiency and scalability.
  • Collaborate in the design and implementation of data security and privacy measures to protect sensitive information.
  • Document data pipeline architecture, processes, and procedures for reference and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in data engineering, incorporating relevant innovations into our practices.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, with a strong track record of designing and implementing complex data pipelines.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, Matlab, or Bash for data processing and scripting.
  • Experience working with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or similar frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, data warehousing concepts, and data modeling principles.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and experience with cloud-based data services.
  • Strong knowledge of ETL tools and frameworks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
