Sewing Specialist

Regent Aerospace Corporation is seeking a skilled Seamster/Seamstress to join our team in the Sewing Department. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining sewing machines to manufacture high-quality airline seat cushions.

• Operate and adjust sewing machine controls to regulate stitching speed and length, dimensions, and material or thread tension.
• Join, hem, and reinforce materials or fabricated materials using sewing machines.
• Position materials through feed rollers and guides, or position and maneuver under sewing machine presser foot and needle during operation.
• Examine and measure finished articles to verify conformance to standards, using a ruler.
• Record amount of materials processed in production logs.
• Remove finished materials from sewing machines.
• Tape and twist together thread or cord to repair breaks.
• Position and mark patterns on materials to prepare for sewing.
• Replace needles, sand rough areas of needles with sandpaper, and clean and oil sewing machines to maintain equipment.
• Cut materials according to specifications, or cut excess material or thread from finished product, using a blade, scissors, or electric knife.
• Fold or fit together materials, such as cloth, foam rubber, or leather, to prepare for machine sewing.
• Select supplies, such as binding, cord, or thread, according to specifications or color of material.
• Mount attachments, such as needles, cutting blades, or pattern plates, and adjust machine guides according to specifications.
• Monitor machine operation to detect problems, such as defective stitching, breaks in thread, or machine malfunction.

• Some sewing experience.
• Ability to sit for at least 80% of each workday.
• Light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
• Color perception and depth perception.
• Reasoning, following simple directions, planning, combining information, remembering.

Inside work (shop environment) with moderate noise levels.
