The Quality and Risk Management Coordinator will spearhead the development and execution of initiatives aimed at enhancing quality and mitigating risks within the organization. This role involves continuous monitoring of patient outcomes and associated risks throughout the treatment process, as well as conducting thorough reviews and audits related to risk management within the facility.
In addition, the Coordinator will oversee the organization, direction, and supervision of tasks related to the collection, examination, processing, and maintenance of medical records.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To excel in this position, the individual must effectively fulfill each essential function, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Oversee performance metrics in critical areas such as clinical outcomes, quality assurance, and service excellence.
- Formulate and execute the organization's risk management strategy to align with its mission and strategic objectives while adhering to applicable federal and state regulations and accreditation standards.
- Provide education and training to leadership and staff regarding risk management protocols and their specific roles in these initiatives.
- Guide and support departments in crafting effective risk management strategies.
- Gather, assess, and maintain data related to identified risk areas.
- Conduct investigations and analyses to determine root causes; identify trends and implement corrective measures as necessary.
- Actively engage in or facilitate committees focused on risk management, safety, and quality enhancement.
- Perform random audits of patient records to identify risk areas, including but not limited to admission/readmission audits.
- Assist in the onboarding of skilled residents into the facility.
- Ensure compliance with documentation standards.
- Support scheduling of physician appointments.
- Manage incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with daily operational tasks as required.
- Identify and rectify inaccuracies in documentation according to established protocols.
- Support charge nurse duties as assigned.
- May participate in an on-call rotation as needed.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

- Knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE) and standard medical tools.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Knowledge of legal aspects of clinical practice and professional standards.
- Significant supervisory experience in a geriatric care setting.
- Minimum of one year of experience in risk management, quality improvement, health information management, healthcare administration, patient care, or business management is preferred.
- Experience in geriatric care is advantageous.
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program with a registered nursing degree.
- Current RN license in the state of employment.
- CPR certification is required.
- Completion of continuing education as mandated to maintain licensure.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
- May require occasional guidance from management in extraordinary situations.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other infectious diseases.
- Work is typically conducted in a well-lit, temperature-controlled long-term care facility.
- Frequent exposure to above-average conversational noise.
- Position may necessitate flexible hours, unscheduled overtime, or weekend work.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English is required.
- Travel may be necessary.
